Cotola
Over the past 15 years, Cotola has been a driving force in Montreal’s music scene—leading the band Agua Negra and establishing himself as a producer, vocalist, and mixing engineer. His artistry crosses borders, with performances across South America and Canada, plus appearances on international radio. In 2018, he shook the scene with the ‘Narco Bolero’ trilogy, fusing classic bolero rhythms with hip-hop.
In 2019, his collaborations ‘Dust 2 Dust’ with M.A.V. and Agua Negra’s album ‘Aguacero’ earned airplay on Soul Assassins Radio Show and East NY Radio, while his work consistently landed on top music rankings from 2019–2024, spotlighted by La Presse, Insomniac Magazine, and Weakly Rap Gods.
2021 was a landmark year: Cotola produced Chung’s debut project, Chung Shui, which earned rave global reviews, positioned her as a Canadian artist to watch, and received recognition from Complex Canada, SOCAN, and Exclaim!
In 2022, he expanded the Narco Bolero series with volumes 2 and 3. 2023 saw the release of Chung Shui II, earning Chung the title of Queen of Montreal Rap and landing on major playlists, alongside Dust 2 Dust 2, featuring underground heavyweights Rigz, Huskingpin, and Pounds.
In 2024, Cotola reunited with Obia Le Chef for the highly anticipated joint project Nimrod, collaborating with both local and international talent including Rowjay, Fléau Decaprio, and Bob Marlich. Early 2025 brought the Deluxe Nimrod, adding nine tracks including “LE PLUG” with Chung, hitting French and English playlists like JAZZRAP, Northern Bars, RapQueb, and Radar Canada.
2025 was a production powerhouse: Cotola fully produced four projects, including Clan Supreme’s BloodMoon Profecy (Spotify editorial playlists), Casablanca the Gawd’s Sip Tea In The Trap (Hot 97’s Real Late with Peter Rosenberg), and SeinsSucrer’s Opium Opus, cementing him as one of Canada’s most undeniable producers.
